Tornado sirens/ Air raid sirens were first introduced in the 1930s during WWI for warning of attacks with most sirens being smaller and hand-held. Then in the 1950's during WWII, Bigger sirens like the Thunderbolt and the Model D sirens were used for Civil Defense. Ever since the war ended, Sirens were put to use as Tornado Sirens. Flood Sirens and Power Plant Sirens were made in the 1970's.

Mechanical sirens were made in 1931-Present.

Electronic Sirens were made in 1979-Present.

If you have local tornado sirens in your area, make sure you know where they are located and listen for Monthly or Weekly Tests. SIRAPoint, Inc. uses Electronic Sirens.
